The Safari Awards has unveiled its 2025 shortlist, celebrating the leading safari lodges, experiences, and conservation pioneers across the African continent. Now in its 18th year, the awards recognise excellence in sustainable tourism, community engagement and authentic safari experiences.
Founded by Henry Hallward, the Safari Awards continues to honour those who have made a lasting impact in African tourism. This year’s shortlist showcases everything from iconic luxury camps to innovative, community-led operations, representing the future of safari travel.
A who’s who of safari excellence
Among the notable nominees is Tanda Tula Safari Camp in South Africa’s Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, the legendary Chiawa Camp on the Zambezi in Zambia, and Puku Ridge, which offers sweeping views over Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park.
In Kenya, two standouts include the timeless Cottar’s 1920s Camp in the Maasai Mara and Ol Pejeta Safari Cottages, recognised for its dedication to responsible tourism. Meanwhile, Botswana’s desert-luxe Jack’s Camp continues to inspire with its distinctive flair in the Makgadikgadi Pans.
Sirikoi, nestled in the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, rounds out the list with its award-winning commitment to conservation and elevated guest experiences.
Winners to be announced at Indaba 2025
The winners of the Safari Awards 2025 will be revealed during this year’s Africa Travel Indaba in Durban, taking place from 13 to 15 May. The final judging process is underway, and anticipation is high across the industry.
