Africa Showcase has concluded another vibrant and high-impact roadshow across Australia, with trade events in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne drawing strong attendance and renewed interest in African travel from across the Australian travel trade.
The four-city tour delivered on its promise to connect African tourism partners with Australia’s travel sellers, bringing the spirit, stories and selling power of the continent to the frontlines of one of its most loyal source markets.
“Each city brought its own unique energy, and it has been inspiring to see how eager the market is to connect with Africa,” the organisers shared.
“Despite the chilly weather, the turnout and enthusiasm exceeded our expectations and reinforced our belief in the important work we do.”
The Showcase’s face-to-face format remains a vital platform for building trade relationships, educating advisors, and securing long-term bookings. Notably, many agents attending were new to selling Africa — highlighting the roadshow’s role in attracting fresh attention to the continent, particularly as retailers look to diversify their long-haul offering.
Strong signals from the Australian market

Key insights from the roadshow confirmed strong demand for African travel, with several emerging trends shaping bookings from the region:
- Luxury is thriving, with travellers willing to spend on exclusive experiences and boutique properties, and average spend per trip now up 20–30% since 2019.
- Bucket list travel remains top of mind, with Big Five safaris, gorilla trekking and Victoria Falls among the most requested experiences.
- Multi-generational and FIT travel are on the rise, with families and independent travellers seeking bespoke, purpose-driven itineraries.
- Solo female travel is gaining momentum, with strong demand for women-only small group departures.
- Air access improvements – including reinstated routes with SAA and new Qantas services – are helping smooth the path for future growth.
“Africa Showcase is very valuable and very interesting,” said Mahmoud Ahmed of Traveda DMC & Dahabiya Cruises.
“This is our first time, and we hope we will continue every year to participate. The Australian market is very important for Egypt. We have a high demand for tour packages to Egypt, and now we’re seeing even more opportunity to grow.”
Deidre Broodryk-Ward from aha Hotels & Lodges echoed that sentiment by saying, “The Australian market brings to South Africa not only stamina but a deep appreciation for wide open spaces, biodiversity, and immersive cultural experiences. This aligns perfectly with our offering. It’s not just a smart move — it’s essential.”
With such positive momentum and genuine market engagement, Africa Showcase has proven again that Australia is not only a high-yield source market for Africa but also a growing one — ready to connect with new products, partnerships and opportunities.
