Luxury small ship cruise line Aqua Expeditions has announced its debut in East Africa, unveiling new itineraries exploring the Seychelles and Tanzania from December 2025.
The move marks the company’s first foray into Africa and promises to deliver exclusive access to some of the Indian Ocean’s most biodiverse and remote destinations.
Exploring East Africa’s hidden gems
The new itineraries will range from five to nine nights aboard Aqua Expeditions’ Explorer yacht, with an option to combine sailings for a 14-night journey through the Seychelles. Guests will explore biodiversity hotspots such as Aldabra Atoll, Cosmoledo, Astove, Farquhar Atoll, Kilwa Kisiwani, and Pemba.
Aldabra Atoll, often called the “Galapagos of Africa,” is a UNESCO World Heritage-listed site and home to over 150,000 giant tortoises. This isolated island group boasts extraordinary marine life, vibrant coral reefs, and hundreds of species of flora and fauna, offering an unparalleled experience for nature lovers and adventure seekers.

Aqua Expeditions expands with Ponant partnership
The announcement follows news that Aqua Expeditions has joined forces with Ponant Explorations Group, which recently acquired a majority stake in the company. Despite the partnership, Aqua Expeditions will continue to operate as a stand-alone business unit under Galli Zugaro’s leadership.
