The Cape Town Cruise Terminal has once again been crowned “Africa’s Best Cruise Terminal” at the 2024 World Cruise Awards in Madeira, Portugal.
This marks the fourth consecutive year the terminal has received this prestigious recognition, solidifying its reputation as a premier gateway to Cape Town and the V&A Waterfront.
A benchmark for excellence
This award follows Cape Town’s earlier accolade as “Africa’s Leading Cruise Port” at the 2024 World Travel Awards. The terminal’s commitment to delivering world-class passenger experiences and integrating cruise facilities with retail, dining, and commercial spaces has played a key role in attracting visitors and boosting the broader Waterfront precinct.
Andre Blaine, Executive Manager of Marine and Industrial Property, said: “These achievements reflect our dedication to excellence and our mission to present Cape Town in the best possible light. As the first point of contact for sea arrivals, the terminal is key to shaping visitors’ experiences, and we strive to make each arrival memorable.”
Collaboration drives success
The terminal’s success is underpinned by strong partnerships with stakeholders, including:
- The Western Cape Government
- City of Cape Town
- Transnet National Ports Authority
- South African Maritime Safety Authority
- Cruise Cape Town (powered by Wesgro)
These collaborations have been instrumental in growing South Africa’s cruise tourism sector, positioning Cape Town as a preferred destination for global cruise travelers.
