Chobe Savanna Lodge will reopen to guests on 8 May 2026 following a complete refurbishment, returning with refreshed interiors while retaining its original footprint and distinctive water-based setting on the Chobe River.
Located on the Namibian side of the Chobe River, opposite Chobe National Park in Botswana, the lodge sits within a dynamic ecological corridor that attracts large concentrations of wildlife, particularly elephants, as well as predators and migratory birdlife that follow the river’s seasonal rhythms. Surrounded by water on three sides, the lodge offers uninterrupted views across floodplains, grasslands and riverine forest.
Refurbished safari chalets
The lodge comprises 13 safari chalets, all of which have been structurally and stylistically refurbished. Two chalets can be booked as interleading, catering to families or small groups travelling together. Each en suite chalet is elevated on wooden platforms and features a glass-fronted design with a private viewing deck overlooking the river or surrounding wetlands.
Accommodation includes flexible twin or double bedding, indoor showers, eco-friendly amenities, air-conditioning, ceiling fans and mosquito nets, along with writing desks, wardrobes and seating areas. The chalets are generously spaced to maximise privacy while maintaining a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.
Lodge facilities and guest experience
The main lodge area remains the social hub of Chobe Savanna Lodge, offering elevated 180-degree views across the Chobe River system. Wildlife sightings are a frequent part of the in-lodge experience, with elephants, antelope and birdlife often visible from communal areas.
Facilities include shared dining with private options available on request, multiple indoor and outdoor lounge spaces, a bar, swimming pool and boma area. The lodge operates on an all-inclusive basis, with meals, drinks, daily laundry and Wi-Fi included.
Activities and access
Scheduled activities depart twice daily and focus on water-based exploration, reflecting the lodge’s unique riverine location. These include skimmer boat cruises, motorboat safaris and birding excursions, with catch-and-release fishing also available. Cultural visits can be arranged on request.
Due to its island-style setting, Chobe Savanna Lodge is accessed by boat for the final transfer, as vehicle access is not possible.
The lodge forms part of the Desert & Delta Safaris portfolio and will resume operations from 8 May 2026.
