Elewana Collection has unveiled a major renovation of two of its most beloved Kenyan properties, Elsa’s Kopje Meru and Elephant Pepper Camp in the Maasai Mara, reimagining the safari experience through upgraded interiors and immersive dining.
The updates enhance comfort and connection to the wilderness while staying true to the brand’s deep conservation ethos.
Elsa’s Kopje: a living legacy in Meru
Perched high above the plains of Meru National Park, Elsa’s Kopje is named after the lioness made famous in the film Born Free. The lodge’s latest renovation carefully preserves its rich history while introducing refined enhancements throughout its guest suites and communal spaces.
Upgraded furniture, refined lighting, and Nero-finished bathroom floors now feature in all rooms, while the lodge’s Private House has been refreshed with a new bath and redesigned outdoor shower. The pools have been refinished with terrazzo tiling, and a new sundowner deck and outdoor cinema screening Born Free are set to open soon.
The culinary experience has also been elevated with a fresh take on Kenyan flavours—think slow-simmered stews, fire-grilled meats and vibrant garden fare that reflect the region’s heritage and bounty.
Elephant Pepper Camp: fire-cooked flavour in the Mara
In the Mara North Conservancy, Elephant Pepper Camp now boasts a full tent upgrade and refreshed arrival and dining spaces. At the heart of its revamp is the new ‘Elephant and Pepper’ culinary concept, showcasing open-fire cooking techniques inspired by African bushcraft and global smokehouses.
Guests can expect slow-smoked meats, ember-roasted vegetables and cocktails infused with aromatic acacia wood. Foraged ingredients and authentic braai preparation methods create a unique sensory connection to the Maasai Mara’s wild landscape.
