Essence of Africa will take place in Zanzibar for its 2026 edition, as the trade event continues its rotating format across the continent’s key tourism destinations and responds to growing global interest in Africa’s coastal and island offerings.
Scheduled for 20–22 October 2026 at Diamonds Bijoux, the third edition of the buyer-supplier forum will bring international trade partners to the Indian Ocean island, positioning Zanzibar as a complementary extension to traditional safari itineraries.
Zanzibar gains traction as safari extension

The move follows increased international demand for Zanzibar, with the destination recording a 10% rise in visitor arrivals in December 2025.
For the Australian trade, the island’s proximity to East Africa’s major safari hubs strengthens its appeal as part of multi-stop itineraries, combining wildlife, beach and cultural experiences within a single journey.
Event organisers said the destination reflects a broader shift towards more diverse African itineraries that go beyond traditional inland safari circuits.
Rotational format supports destination exposure
Essence of Africa’s model sees the event move between destinations, allowing buyers to experience different regions first-hand while engaging in pre-scheduled business meetings.
The 2026 edition builds on the 2025 event in Malindi, which attracted 158 international buyers from 39 countries and 150 African exhibitors, generating more than 5,600 pre-scheduled meetings.
This format continues to prioritise commercially driven outcomes, supported by networking events, educational sessions and familiarisation experiences.
Trade platform continues to expand reach
Curated by On Show Solutions and ATTA Group Events, the forum is designed to facilitate direct engagement between global buyers and African suppliers, with a focus on long-term business development.
For agents and operators, the event provides insight into emerging destinations and product trends, while also supporting relationship-building across the continent’s tourism sector.
As Africa’s tourism offering continues to diversify, events such as Essence of Africa play a growing role in showcasing new regions and strengthening international market access.
