Fastjet Zimbabwe has unveiled a new Business Premium cabin, marking a step up in its onboard offering as the airline trials Airbus A320 operations during the August to September peak travel period.
The new product will be available on selected regional routes, including services between Harare and Johannesburg, and Victoria Falls and Johannesburg.
Premium push on key regional routes
The Business Premium cabin will feature extra-wide seating positioned at the front of the aircraft, alongside enhanced onboard services including curated meals and a full bar service at selected times.
Passengers will also receive additional baggage allowance of up to 46 kilograms and access to business class lounges, aligning the product more closely with full-service carrier offerings.
Fastjet Zimbabwe said the move is part of a broader strategy to respond to demand for higher-comfort travel options on busy regional routes.
Trial ahead of potential fleet expansion
The introduction of the A320 aircraft and Business Premium product is currently being trialled, with the airline assessing customer response ahead of a potential longer-term rollout.
Fastjet Zimbabwe Business Chief Executive and Country Head Donahue Cortes said the initiative is designed to better serve evolving customer expectations while exploring future fleet options.
Chief Commercial Officer Vivian Ruwuya added that the new cabin is aimed at both business and leisure travellers seeking a more comfortable and personalised experience.
Trade implications and booking channels
For the trade, the introduction of a premium cabin product provides an additional upsell opportunity on key Southern Africa routes, particularly for clients combining safari destinations with city stays.
Business Premium fares are now available via the airline’s website, ticket offices and through travel agents, offering flexibility across booking channels.
The move reflects a broader trend among regional carriers to diversify product offerings and capture higher-yield segments in competitive intra-Africa markets.
