Food Trail South Africa, the celebrated culinary travel series presented by South African Tourism, returns for its third season on Network 10. Hosted by chef Warren Mendes and produced by Projucer, the new 10-part season premieres on Saturday 23 August at 4:30pm, screening weekly and available on demand after broadcast.
Season 3 promises to be the most action-packed yet, showcasing South Africa’s breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture. From walking safaris and cliff jumping to bush braais, train journeys and conservation initiatives, the series blends adventure with food to highlight the soul of the country.
Each episode combines travel and hands-on cooking with candid conversations with locals—guides, chefs, foragers, sommeliers, artisans and everyday South Africans—whose passion for their craft turns every dish into a story.
Celebrating culture through cuisine

The series highlights how food is deeply tied to South Africa’s history and multicultural identity. Whether dining in award-winning restaurants or enjoying a casual meal at a township shisanyama, viewers will see how cuisine offers a direct connection to the heart of the country.
Season 3 follows on from Warren Mendes’ international recognition at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, where his companion cookbook Food Trail South Africa won Best Celebrity Cookbook in the World.
A love letter to South Africa

Warren Mendes said Season 3 was the most personal to date.
“This season felt more intimate than ever. I was lucky enough to walk with guides who live and breathe these places, to cook with chefs who treat every ingredient with love, and to be constantly blown away by the rugged beauty of South Africa. More than a cooking show, Season 3 is a love letter to the people who harvest, protect and celebrate South Africa’s flavours.”
