Great Plains Conservation has introduced Zamara Private, a new exclusive-use safari property in Kenya’s Masai Mara, expanding its luxury portfolio in one of Africa’s most in-demand wildlife regions.
Located on private land near Mara Plains Camp, Mara Toto Tree Camp and Mara Expedition Camp, the six-room property is designed for sole-use bookings, targeting families and small groups seeking privacy and a more personalised safari experience.
Sole-use model targets premium family and group travel

Zamara Private is positioned as a “home away from home” concept, encouraging guests to take full occupancy of the camp and settle in for extended stays rather than follow traditional fast-paced safari itineraries.
The focus is on flexibility and immersion, with guests able to set their own pace across activities including game drives, guided walks and downtime at camp.
Dereck Joubert, co-founder of Great Plains Conservation, said the concept centres on creating a space where guests can reconnect with nature and each other. “It is a place to slow down, not chase after the wildlife, but to get into the rhythm of the land,” he said.
Expanding Mara portfolio strengthens luxury offering

The addition of Zamara Private strengthens Great Plains’ footprint in the Masai Mara, one of East Africa’s most commercially important safari destinations for the Australian market.
Its proximity to existing camps allows trade partners to build multi-property itineraries, while the exclusive-use model taps into growing demand for private travel, particularly among high-net-worth families and multi-generational groups.
Design and location emphasise seclusion

Set within a grove of acacia trees on elevated ground, the camp has been designed to blend into the surrounding landscape, with an emphasis on privacy and understated luxury.
According to Joubert, the site was selected for its sense of tranquillity and strong wildlife presence, reinforcing the property’s positioning as a secluded retreat within the Mara ecosystem.
For the trade, Zamara Private adds a new high-end option in a competitive segment, offering agents another way to tailor exclusive safari experiences in Kenya.
