The multi-day itinerary combines on-foot tracking with lodge-based stays, reflecting growing demand for slower, experience-led safaris across Southern Africa.
Walking safaris anchor new itinerary
The Northern Hwange Walking Safari Trail centres on guided walks covering approximately 12 to 15 kilometres per day, led by experienced guides and trackers.
The route follows sections of the Deka River between Hideaways Nantwich Lodge and Hideaways Bumbusi Wilderness Camp, areas known for strong populations of lion, elephant and other big game.
Unlike traditional drive-focused safaris, the experience emphasises tracking wildlife on foot and understanding animal behaviour in greater detail.
Multi-stop journey adds broader appeal
The itinerary also incorporates a stay in Victoria Falls, alongside time at both Nantwich Lodge and Bumbusi Wilderness Camp.
Additional activities, including game drives, night drives and cultural site visits, are integrated to balance the physical nature of the walking component.
