Nehimba Lodge is looking better than ever with new furnishings and décor giving a lighter and brighter feel to the much-loved lodge.

Remotely nestled within a massive private concession in the northern part of Hwange National Park, Nehimba Lodge combines comfort, elegance, and African charm for an exceptional safari experience. The main guest area and nine spacious canvas-under-thatch tents are built on teak decks overlooking a productive waterhole, which is frequented by large numbers of elephants.

Major changes during the refresh of the lodge include walk-in mosquito nets in the rooms with fans inside the nets, in time for the hot months ahead, and comfy Morris chairs on room verandas where guests can relax and watch the passing parade of wildlife at the waterhole. New mini bar fridges will also help to keep cold drinks conveniently close by in the summer.

Nehimba is set for a wildlife viewing bonanza this season – our concession was lucky to get a huge late-season cloudburst when much of the rest of Hwange was desperately dry. The result was that the vegetation around Nehimba got a boost mid-growing season just when it was most needed, now providing an abundant food source in the area when it is already short elsewhere, and drawing in animals from far and wide.

Imvelo has also increased preparedness for the drought by redrilling three boreholes in the concession. Deepening these holes has resulted in a much improved yield which will ensure there is plenty of water at Nehimba for the long dry season ahead.
