Intrepid Travel has expanded its growing rail journey collection with a new African itinerary, Kenya by Rail: Trains, Safari and Beaches. The 10-day adventure invites travellers to experience Kenya through the window of the Madaraka Express, combining wildlife safaris, scenic train rides and Indian Ocean beaches.
Priced from AU$7,300, the journey offers a slower, more immersive travel experience through two of Kenya’s national parks, giving guests the chance to spot zebras and elephants without ever leaving their seat. The trip is part of Intrepid’s no-fly rail range, reflecting the company’s commitment to sustainable and meaningful travel.
Train-focused travel growing in popularity
Since launching its dedicated rail trips in 2024, Intrepid has seen a 24 per cent year-on-year increase in bookings, as more travellers opt for experiences that emphasise connection, culture and conservation. Each trip includes the expertise of a local leader, small group sizes, and a focus on community interaction.
With the addition of this new African rail adventure, Intrepid now offers 50 train-based trips across the globe, each designed to highlight local landscapes and reduce the carbon footprint of travel.
