After suffering damage from recent flooding in Masai Mara National Reserve, the JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge is set to reopen on 15 July 2024.

The unprecedented challenges due to heavy rainfall across the Masai Mara National Reserve garnered unwavering support and encouragement from people around the globe, and the lodge is ready to welcome travellers back to this extraordinary destination, a haven of luxury and wilderness.

On 1 May 2024, the lodge’s team showcased their heroic and quick responsiveness, ensuring all guests were safely evacuated during the historically high floods. Their efforts exemplified the spirit of hospitality and courage.

The JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge restoration plan involves fully refurbishing 18 luxury tented suites by July, and completing the remaining two suites by the end of the year. The lodge will accomplish this while maintaining the exceptional services and experiences that they are renowned for.

The Lodge has consistently met the stringent safety regulations mandated by local authorities, including passing the Tourism Regulatory Authority Audit in Kenya. In order to give further reassurance to guests and staff, they have taken additional measures to fortify their facilities. These enhancements include installing elevated pathways, reinforcing structures throughout the Lodge, and strengthening and channelling the riverbanks. Additionally, an alarm system will be activated if the water level rises above the designated meter metric.

The park is fully accessible, and the game-viewing experience remains spectacular. This ongoing collaboration ensures that your adventures in the wild are both safe and rewarding, providing unforgettable encounters with the region’s unique wildlife.
