Lemala Camps & Lodges has announced the acquisition of Tulia Amboseli Safari Camp, marking the brand’s debut in Kenya and expanding its portfolio of sustainable safari experiences across East Africa.
Situated just outside Amboseli National Park with sweeping views of Mount Kilimanjaro and close access to the park’s famous elephant herds, Tulia has built a reputation for intimate, authentic safari stays. Under Lemala’s ownership, the camp will retain its name and identity, with no immediate rebranding planned.
A sustainable approach to growth

Haigh emphasised that Lemala’s expansion comes through acquisition rather than adding new beds in Amboseli, ensuring the integrity of the ecosystem is preserved while supporting conservation-focused tourism.
Collaboration with Tulia’s founder
Lemala will continue working closely with Tulia’s founder, Barry McGonigle, a long-time Amboseli resident who also operates Kilimanjaro Balloon Safaris.
“His deep knowledge of Amboseli and close relationships within the local community are invaluable,” the Lemala team said.
