The Lux Collective has announced its entry into Rwanda through a landmark partnership to develop and manage a multi-property luxury tourism circuit, marking a significant step in the country’s evolution as a high-end African destination.
The agreement, signed in Kigali during the Africa CEO Forum 2026, will see the Mauritian-based hospitality group collaborate with Cleo Capital Group to introduce its LUX* and SALT brands across key tourism regions.
Five-property circuit spans Rwanda’s key destinations

The project will span four of Rwanda’s flagship tourism areas — Lake Kivu, Akagera National Park, Volcanoes National Park and Nyungwe National Park — creating a connected circuit designed to encourage longer stays and higher-yield travel.
Phase one, launching from mid-2026, includes the rebranding of existing properties into LUX* Lake Kivu and SALT of Akagera, while phase two will deliver three new developments by 2028, including properties in Volcanoes, Nyungwe and Akagera.
For the trade, the circuit approach offers a more structured way to package Rwanda beyond gorilla trekking, enabling multi-stop itineraries that combine rainforest, savannah and lakeside experiences within one destination.
Sustainability-led model aligns with Rwanda strategy

The development is positioned around regenerative tourism principles, incorporating renewable energy, water conservation, biodiversity protection and community engagement initiatives.
The inclusion of SALT, the group’s purpose-led brand, in Akagera National Park reflects growing demand for experiences that connect travellers more directly with local communities and conservation outcomes.
This aligns closely with Rwanda’s broader tourism strategy, which focuses on high-value, low-volume travel and sustainability-driven development.
New opportunities for Australian trade

For Australian travel advisors, the expansion introduces internationally recognised luxury brands into a market that has traditionally been dominated by boutique and conservation-led operators.
The scale of the project also signals Rwanda’s intent to compete more directly with established East African safari destinations, offering a diversified product that combines wildlife, primate experiences and soft adventure with luxury accommodation.
As global demand for immersive, experience-led travel continues to grow, Rwanda’s emerging luxury circuit is expected to strengthen its appeal among repeat Africa travellers and high-end FIT clients.
