What began as an audacious plan in 2019 has culminated in a complete transformation of one of South Africa’s most-loved, family-friendly safari destinations. As it celebrates its 30th anniversary, Mabula Game Lodge has completed the final phase of its lodge-wide transformation with a spectacular new boma, terrace, and public areas to mark the occasion.
From the open and inviting entrance to the serene reception and lounge areas, every aspect of the lodge has been thoughtfully reimagined. The modern bar exudes elegance, providing the perfect space to unwind after a day of safari adventures.
The boma: a highlight of African-inspired design
The centrepiece of the transformation is the exceptional new boma, an innovative design inspired by the essence of bush dining. Featuring a central savannah plain adorned with striking steel-and-wood “trees,” bronze columns, curved arches, and a glowing central fire pit, the boma offers a sophisticated yet authentic setting for up to 160 guests.
Redesigned terrace and tranquil landscapes
The lodge’s redesigned terrace now includes serene waterfalls and a peaceful lily pond, seamlessly connected to the boma by an elegant bridge. Thoughtfully crafted interiors combine modern African luxury with natural elements, creating a harmonious space where every detail enhances the magic of Mabula.
