Morukuru to Reopen in September 2025 following major refurbishment

Morukuru Family has announced the reopening of its exclusive-use safari lodges, Morukuru Owner’s House and Morukuru River House, in Madikwe Game Reserve, scheduled for 1 September 2025. The properties were temporarily closed after severe flooding in February 2025 caused significant interior damage. Both lodges have since undergone a comprehensive refurbishment, led by Amy Kidger of Hinterland Studio, known for her contemporary African design aesthetic.

The redesign draws inspiration from the surrounding Tamboti trees and vibrant bushveld, featuring a palette of ochres, rusts, deep greens, and blues. Guests can expect interiors layered with rich colours, natural textures, and handcrafted details that echo the landscape outside. The refurbishment also includes the addition of a new fitness room, enhancing the wellness offerings for guests.

Both properties will continue to offer Morukuru’s signature Freedom Concept: exclusive-use stays with no fixed schedules, private staff teams, and tailor-made safari experiences for families and friends of all generations. Bookings are now open for stays from 1 September 2025 onwards, with existing rates and promotions applied.
