The Reef Experience Zanzibar is expanding its footprint on the island with the launch of its Classic Reef Tour from Kendwa Beach, set to begin operations in July 2026.
The move marks the first time the operator has extended beyond its Stone Town base, giving agents a new product option in Zanzibar’s popular northern beach region.
Northern Zanzibar expansion broadens product offering

Kendwa Beach, known for its calm waters and wide shoreline, has been selected as the second operating base for the experience, targeting travellers staying in the north of the island.
The expansion is expected to improve accessibility for guests who would otherwise need to travel to Stone Town, creating new opportunities for itinerary planning and upselling activities in-region.
Only the Classic Reef Tour will operate from Kendwa, while the operator’s broader portfolio, including sunset cruises and private charters, will remain based in Stone Town.
Accessible marine experience targets wider market

The two-hour reef tour is designed as an above-water marine experience, allowing guests to view coral reefs and marine life from a lower deck with large viewing windows.
This format caters to a broader audience, including non-swimmers, families and older travellers, offering an alternative to traditional snorkelling or diving excursions.
Guests can move freely between the open-air upper deck and the air-conditioned lower viewing area, combining comfort with wildlife viewing.
Seasonal operations reflect local conditions
Tours from Kendwa will operate daily with multiple departures, subject to a minimum of two guests per session.
Operations are scheduled to pause between December and March due to seasonal wind and sea conditions, with year-round services continuing from Stone Town.
For the trade, the expansion adds a differentiated, family-friendly marine experience in a key beach destination, supporting broader Zanzibar itineraries.
