World Travel Market (WTM) Africa is set to return to Cape Town from 9–11 April 2025, and registration is now open for one of Africa’s premier travel events.
As part of Africa Travel Week, WTM Africa brings together leaders in leisure tourism, luxury travel, MICE, LGBTQ+ travel, sport tourism, tourism investment, responsible tourism, and travel technology.
Shaping the future of African tourism
Under the theme ‘Ignite Africa’, WTM Africa 2025 aims to create a dynamic space for collaboration and innovation. Megan De Jager, Portfolio Director for RX Africa, explained, “We’re creating a space for real conversation, connection, and collaboration, bringing together the best minds in the industry to shape the future of African tourism.”
For the first time, the programme will introduce ‘content clusters’ that include keynote presentations, panel discussions, and practical workshops on trending topics such as sustainable aviation, AI in tourism, and next-generation marketing.
New highlights for 2025
Attendees can look forward to new additions to the programme, including:
- A half-day aviation conference exploring industry challenges and opportunities.
- The Africa Tourism Investment Conference in partnership with JLL.
- A youth development section focusing on career opportunities and showcasing young African leaders in tourism.
Additional features include the release of an exclusive ‘State of the Industry’ report, interactive brain box sessions for skills development, and networking opportunities connecting buyers, suppliers, and media professionals.
Growing demand and exciting opportunities
WTM Africa continues to grow in popularity, with the 2024 event seeing a 53 per cent increase in attendance compared to 2023, including representatives from 88 countries.
Cape Town Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis, praised the event’s importance, saying, “WTM Africa is the premier travel and tourism expo on the continent and key to unlocking African tourism’s enormous potential. If the popularity and growth of last year’s event is anything to go by, 2025 looks set to be the biggest and best yet.”
For those in luxury tourism, ILTM Africa will take place from 6–8 April 2025 at the Norval Foundation in Cape Town. This invite-only event will showcase art as a key component of luxury tourism, featuring top-tier providers and international buyers.
Attend the most exciting week in African tourism
WTM Africa attendees will also gain access to concurrent events such as EQUAL Africa powered by IGLTA, IBTM Africa, and Travel Tech.
