Rwanda’s Community-Based Tourism Fair 2026

Starting 22 May 2026, Rwanda will host a three-day celebration of community-based Rwandan tourism. This annual Community-Based Tourism (CBT) Fair is more than just an event—it is a gathering of local creators, conservation experts, and travellers who believe that tourism should be a force for good.

Rwanda is growing, and c want that growth to belong to its people.

Founder of Red Rocks Initiative, Greg Bakunzi, said, “We believe that true conservation only happens when the communities living alongside our national parks are the ones benefiting most. This fair is a living demonstration of how we protect our natural wonders while honoring our cultural heritage, creating a future where both nature and people thrive together.”

Over three days, the event moves beyond into the community, whereby you will hear directly from community members about the innovations and traditions shaping the industry. Join conversations on how local families are becoming the leading protectors of Rwanda’s unique landscapes.

The CBT Fair showcases how tourism can directly support livelihoods, preserve cultural heritage, and protect the natural landscapes that make Rwanda so remarkable. Visitors don’t just observe—they connect, learn, and contribute.

Across three days, participants will take part in:

  • Inspiring exchanges, by meeting local community members and hear firsthand stories from community enterprises shaping Rwanda’s future.
  • Conservation conversations, where you will discover how communities living near protected areas are leading efforts to safeguard wildlife and ecosystems.
  • Hands-On learning, by exploring practical ideas and grassroots innovations driving sustainable tourism.

This is more than an event—it’s a living example of how tourism can become a force for good. Join us in Musanze this May for a gathering that blends culture, conservation, and community spirit—an experience that stays with you long after the journey ends
