Summerplace Game Reserve has expanded its offering in South Africa’s Waterberg region with the launch of a purpose-built events space targeting the meetings, incentives, conferences and weddings market.
The new Glass Barn venue introduces a flexible indoor space designed to accommodate small to mid-sized groups, adding a dedicated events capability to the Limpopo-based property.
New venue targets boutique MICE and wedding segments
Located in Vaalwater within the UNESCO-listed Waterberg Biosphere Reserve, The Glass Barn is designed to host between 20 and 90 guests across a 400 square metre footprint.
Floor-to-ceiling glass walls and sliding doors open onto surrounding bushveld, positioning the venue as a nature-integrated setting for corporate retreats, private celebrations and weddings.
Facilities include integrated audiovisual equipment, adjustable seating layouts, dimmable lighting and on-site catering, aligning with growing demand for smaller, experience-led events in regional destinations.
Expanding product offering beyond leisure stays
The addition of a dedicated venue signals a broader move by safari properties to diversify beyond traditional leisure stays and capture MICE and group business.
Summerplace Game Reserve spans 3,500 hectares of private, malaria-free bushveld approximately two and a half hours from Johannesburg, making it accessible for domestic and short-haul corporate travel.
Accommodation includes 10 tented units and seven villas, with a range of meal plans and private chef options, allowing planners to package events with overnight stays.
Experiential add-ons support corporate itineraries
Beyond the venue itself, the reserve offers a suite of activities suited to corporate and incentive groups, including guided game drives, mountain biking and trail running across more than 160 kilometres of routes.
Additional facilities such as tennis courts, a restaurant and wildlife viewing opportunities, including more than 40 mammal species and over 150 bird species, support multi-day itineraries.
The move reflects continued growth in demand for nature-based conferencing and events that combine business with immersive outdoor experiences.
