Swan Hellenic unveils epic Grand Voyages exploring Africa’s west coast

Swan Hellenic has announced two new Grand Voyages for 2026, offering travellers a rare opportunity to explore the full length of Africa’s west coast in one seamless journey aboard the luxury expedition ship SH Diana.

Two extended cultural voyages from Cape Town to Lisbon or Luanda

The first of the two newly launched voyages departs Cape Town on 25 March 2026 and spans 51 nights, visiting Namibia, Angola, Ghana, Senegal, Morocco and Portugal, before concluding in Lisbon. The second voyage sails southbound from Lisbon to Luanda over 35 nights, departing 7 September 2026.

Each Grand Voyage combines several shorter Swan Hellenic sailings into one immersive itinerary, with savings of up to 15 per cent compared to booking each segment individually.

Immersive journeys with expert-led exploration

Swan Hellenic’s expedition cruises are known for their in-depth exploration and cultural enrichment. Guests will travel through diverse ecosystems and historical regions, encountering everything from the wildlife of Namibia’s Skeleton Coast to the vibrant cultures of West Africa and the ancient medinas of Morocco.

Onboard, renowned guides and experts lead presentations and excursions, enhancing the voyage with storytelling and insight. Both Grand Voyages include opportunities to explore national parks, UNESCO heritage sites, and historically significant ports tied to Africa’s maritime past.

A boutique experience aboard SH Diana

Both itineraries will be operated on the purpose-built SH Diana, which accommodates 192 guests in 96 staterooms and suites, most with balconies. Onboard features include a spa, panoramic sauna, club room, gym, swimming pool, three dining venues, a presentation theatre, and a mix of tender boats and Zodiacs for shore excursions.

Flexible options and increasing demand

Each segment of the northbound and southbound journeys is also available to book as an individual cruise, ranging from 7 to 13 nights in duration. However, interest in the Grand Voyage format has been strong, with Swan Hellenic encouraging early bookings.

“It’s about creating once-in-a-lifetime journeys that blend nature, culture and comfort,” said Patrizia Iantorno, Chief Commercial Officer at Swan Hellenic.

“By combining our expertly designed African itineraries into these Grand Voyages, we’re responding to demand from travellers looking for deeper, more meaningful exploration.”
