Wolwedans appoints Namibian hospitality leader to executive role

Namibia’s Wolwedans has appointed Selma Simaneka Benyameni as Executive Hospitality Manager, bringing one of the country’s most experienced tourism professionals back to the luxury desert lodge operator nearly two decades after she began her career with the company.

The appointment comes as Wolwedans continues to invest in its guest experience and broader tourism operations, including ongoing upgrades across its portfolio in the NamibRand Nature Reserve.

Hospitality veteran returns to Wolwedans

Benyameni first joined Wolwedans in 2007 as a trainee at the Wolwedans Desert Academy before building her career across the African safari sector.

Most recently, she held senior leadership positions with Wilderness, where she developed expertise in operations, service delivery and team leadership.

In her new role, Benyameni will oversee the hospitality strategy and guest experience across the Wolwedans collection, including Desert Lodge, Dune Camp, Plains Camp, Boulders Camp and Mountain View Suite.

The company said she will work closely with operational teams to enhance every stage of the guest journey while maintaining the distinctive character and sense of place for which Wolwedans is known.

Investment in Namibian leadership

The appointment reflects Wolwedans’ continued focus on developing local talent and strengthening Namibian representation within senior leadership positions.

Founder Stephan Brückner described Benyameni’s return as a significant moment for the company.

“There is something deeply meaningful about welcoming Selma back to Wolwedans. She began her journey here and, over the past 18 years, has grown into one of Namibia’s most accomplished hospitality leaders,” Brückner said.

“Her experience, energy and understanding of what creates truly exceptional guest experiences make her uniquely qualified to lead this important area of our business.”

Supporting the next phase of growth

Benyameni’s appointment coincides with a period of continued development for Wolwedans as the company evolves its tourism offering while maintaining its long-standing focus on conservation and sustainability.

She said returning to the company represented a personal and professional milestone.

“Returning to Wolwedans feels like coming home, and I am excited to bring my energy, heart and passion for people into this next chapter,” Benyameni said.

For the travel trade, the appointment signals Wolwedans’ commitment to strengthening operational leadership as it continues to invest in its product and guest experience within one of Namibia’s most celebrated conservation destinations.
