The African Travel & Tourism Association (ATTA®) has announced the return of its ATTA® for Action Awards for 2025, celebrating the changemakers championing sustainability across Africa’s tourism landscape.
Now in their second year, the awards recognise impactful initiatives that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and ATTA®’s eight pillars of responsible tourism.
With entries now open, the awards will culminate in an exclusive ceremony on 23 June 2025 during Experience Africa – ATTA®’s flagship trade show for global buyers focused on African travel product development.
New categories reflect evolving values
Building on the success of the 2024 debut, which drew over 90 submissions, this year’s edition introduces two new categories. The Media Voice for Action Award will honour journalists and content creators shaping responsible tourism narratives, while the Emerging Changemaker Award will spotlight early-stage projects from small businesses or non-profits already making a meaningful impact.
“These stories are practical blueprints showing how purposeful travel can transform lives while protecting biodiversity,” said Chris Mears, CEO of ATTA® Events.
“We want to amplify these voices and showcase the potential of grassroots ideas that could shape Africa’s tourism future.”
Celebrating purpose-driven travel
Organisations can enter up to two categories across a wide range of areas, including environmental conservation, ethical business, community upliftment and traveller education. Open to international buyers, African accommodation providers, experience suppliers and non-profits, the awards aim to scale ideas that work and encourage widespread adoption.
