Kerzner assumes management of Shamwari Private Game Reserve

Kerzner International Holdings Limited will assume management of the Hospitality Division of Shamwari Private Game Reserve in South Africa’s Eastern Cape from 1 April 2026.

The reserve, owned by Investment Corporation of Dubai, will join Kerzner’s Rare Finds portfolio, strengthening the group’s footprint across conservation-led destinations in Africa.

Expanding the Rare Finds portfolio

Shamwari spans 25,000 hectares of protected wilderness and is home to the Big Five. The reserve comprises seven lodges, each offering distinct culinary and wellness experiences designed to reflect the character of the destination.

Kerzner will also manage Shamwari Air, the property’s dedicated private aviation service, integrating it into the group’s broader commercial platform.

The air service operates direct, on-demand flights from Cape Town International Airport and OR Tambo International Airport, reducing travel time to under two hours from Cape Town and just over two hours from Johannesburg.

Focus on conservation and experiential luxury

The partnership brings together Kerzner’s global operational expertise with Shamwari’s established conservation and community-driven ethos.

Kerzner’s Rare Finds collection focuses on distinctive destinations that maintain their individual identity while benefiting from the group’s global distribution and luxury positioning.

Shamwari will join a broader African portfolio that includes One&Only Cape Town, One&Only Nyungwe House and One&Only Le Saint Géran.

Joe Cloete, who has been with Shamwari for 34 years, will continue to lead the reserve under Kerzner’s management.
