Minor Hotels appoints Egypt managing director to drive expansion

Minor Hotels has appointed Tamer Khedr as Managing Director for Egypt, signalling a stronger push into one of the group’s key growth markets.

The newly created role reflects the company’s plans to accelerate development and establish a more dedicated leadership structure in the country.

Leadership appointment supports growth plans

Based in Egypt, Khedr will oversee operations and development across the group’s existing and future portfolio, working closely with the Middle East and Africa regional team.

He brings more than two decades of hospitality experience, including senior roles in hotel operations, asset management and large-scale developments.

Egypt emerges as strategic focus

The appointment comes as Minor Hotels expands its footprint in Egypt, including the recently announced Anantara Somabay Resort & Residences on the Red Sea.

The group is also progressing a partnership with SUNRISE Resorts & Cruises, with plans to develop and operate up to 50 hotels, resorts and Nile cruise experiences over the next decade.

Trade implications for Egypt growth

For the trade, the move highlights growing investment in Egypt’s tourism infrastructure, particularly across luxury and lifestyle segments.

As demand for destinations such as the Red Sea and Nile continues to rise, increased brand presence and development are expected to support broader product availability and long-term market growth.
