South African Airways (SAA) has announced the appointment of Michael Hall as the new Country Manager for Australia & New Zealand, effective from March 1, 2024. With a career spanning 36 years at The Walshe Group, Hall brings extensive experience, having collaborated with SAA throughout his tenure, notably serving as SAA’s National Sales Manager for Australia since 2016.

Hall’s appointment comes at a pivotal juncture for SAA, coinciding with the reintroduction of flights between Johannesburg and Perth, with the inaugural flight set to touch down in Australia on April 29, 2024. This strategic move aligns with SAA’s overarching strategy to broaden its network sustainably, providing customers with an expanded array of destinations and enhanced connectivity.

While Hall assumes the role of Country Manager, The Walshe Group will continue to serve as a crucial strategic partner, representing SAA’s interests in Australia and New Zealand. Additionally, 2024 marks a significant milestone for South African Airways as it commemorates its 90th anniversary, solidifying its position as the oldest airline on the African continent.
