Meet the team

Taking the Helm of the Chobe Princesses is Given Mayumbelo, a familiar face and a remarkable team member. With a legacy spanning more than 20 years with the Zambezi Queen Collection, Given has recently taken on the role of managing all three Chobe Princess houseboats. 

We sat down for a quick chat with the man of the hour

Q: Given, can you share your background and how you joined the Zambezi Queen Collection team?

A: I’m a local man from Impalila Island. I began my career with the Namibian Red Cross before joining Ichingo Chobe River Lodge in 2003 as a chef. In 2004, I helped with the launch of the three Chobe Princesses – the first houseboats on the Chobe!

Q: Can you share some special moments from the past 20 years?

A: It’s been an amazing journey growing professionally – from housekeeping to guiding to captain and manager. The tourism industry requires being a jack of all trades.

Q: What inspires you about working on the Chobe?

A: This region where the four countries meet is so unique. I look forward to showcasing its beauty and hundreds of elephants to our guests. My local expertise will help craft world-class experiences for our guests.
