For a boutique safari getaway far from the crowds, the Karoo wilderness beckons. As winter sets in, the landscape begins its annual reset. And with Samara’s Stay 4, Pay 3 offer valid until 31 August, your guests can too – enjoying a blissful 25% off.

Why winter? Well, fresh sunny days are perfect for walking, hiking and long, leisurely picnics. The landscape is full of colour too, with the rooigrass on the Samara Mara turning a gorgeous shade of pink, and orange-red flowering aloes on every hill. Soft winter light casts an ethereal haze over the kapokbos plants dotted with white blooms resembling cotton-wool.

Abundant wildlife provides opportunities for intimate sightings, whether from the vehicle or on foot. Herds of zebra, springbok and buffalo intermingle on the plains, while cheetah, giraffe and lion roam the savannah and flocks of blue crane take to the skies. Guests may also catch a glimpse of the reserve’s most sought-after inhabitant – the usually-nocturnal aardvark out foraging in broad daylight.

Warm and welcoming lodges are the perfect base to return to after the day’s activities – roaring fires in every fireplace, delicious meals and exquisite wines from our locally sourced menu and the luxury of an inviting bubble bath in our newly-renovated suites.
